Art Quote of the Day

Today's art QOTD: " I dream my painting, and then I paint my dream" ~ Vincent Van Gogh

Medium of the Day: Watercolour

My medium of the day is WATERCOLOUR.  Watercolour is one of my favourite and amazing mediums to work with when painting or rendering. The options are endless, my favourite color combos is orange and pink because the two colors complement well in any artwork. The use of watercolour really inspires me in creating my own pieces later in the year . Here are my favourite pieces using watercolour.

Fashion Illustration

Hi, sorry again if I haven't posted anything lately, because I have lots of schoolwork and is started to bug me, but anyway now I have the long weekend to blog and post the stuff you didn't get to see which is good. Anyway since fashion week has started, I just happened to be illustrating fashion looks inspired by the catwalks of London, New York, Milan and now Paris. Roberto Cavailli, Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior, Balmain and all other high fashion houses are my muses when I illustrate my fashion designs. Geometric and other bold prints are my absolute fave fabrics to illustrate because it gives you a lots of options in what designs you can create, but I also like satin, silk and other luxurious fabrics because they are the type of fabric I can work with. Post more soon. Much love S xo

Fashion Illustration Theme of the Day: NYFW

This is one of my favourite times of the year where the most talented fashion designers across America and around the world to come to New York for Fashion Week. Honestly, I have never been so excited for Fashion week because the clothes the models wear on the runway are muse/inspiration for illustrating fashion. Hopefully the shows have a lot more color and pop into these fashion because that is what I like. Theme for my Illustrations is: Colors can Clash/ Clashing Patterns. Love patterns mixed with bold, vibrant colors to give the look a more intriguing statement. Post one of these inspiring looks soon. Love S xo

Beautiful braids

Hairstyle #1: Beautiful Braids. These types of hairstyles are my absolute favorites and they tend to look really good on any woman. Braids make a woman feel unique on the inside as well as the outside.  Drawing braids is easy as long as you draw the simple patterns first and then connect it all together to create a braid. S xo

Valentine's Day Inspiration

This is my inspiration for my fashion illustrations which I will upload on the weekend or a few days. Sorry I am not being able to upload my illustrations daily because of my workload at school because I am in VCE now so hopefully I will upload some in this upcoming weekend. I chose this theme of floral patterns because  it is nearly Valentine's day (Saturday) and to be honest, floral patterns can have a romantic vibe to any outfit and also it creates a more girlier look.  I'll upload more soon!! Much love S xo

Summer diva!!!

My new drawing features a Lookbook inspired illustration and it has a certain theme to it which is: Summer Diva. It's all about relaxation of summer, lots of flow through the hair and dress, a perfect representation of what summer supposed to feel like. I chose lots of vibrant, vivid colors such as pinks and yellows and blues to make it a bold statement. All done with: Artline 200 fineliner and assorted colored pencils and  colored pens. Note this is an unfinished work.

My Collection

These are my collection sketches which I am currently working on and trying to figure out what trends are the latest ones or I can do a runway inspired collection but still deciding, but here are sketches I have so far. More collections soon and the final piece will be finished soon!! xo S

Haute Couture #1 Illustration

This first drawing (sorry not in good quality) is my fashion illustration. My inspiration: Haute Couture week in Paris. The creations of these gowns by the masters of couturiers are just simply elegant and exquisite. Haute Couture is a perfect example that fashion is a work of art and that these amazing couturiers as designers are simply artists. Oh the time of year again. I can't wait again next year!!!

Street Art Tour: Melbourne Street Art Culture

This photo was taken when I went to Melbourne's alleyways for the tour of street art for my school excursion. For me, it was absolutely breathtaking to see this artwork being displayed on the wall as if I walked into an big, art gallery only this time it is out on the open for locals and tourists to see and visit and take photos. No wonder I am not surprised that Melbourne is the street art capital of the world and it is amazing how much color that there is on the wall. These talented street artists turned this blank canvas into a huge masterpiece and for them to make all that hard work and effort and putting their heart and soul into these types of artwork and for that I owe them a debt of gratitude. What I saw that day, was very vivid and vibrant and the artists took risks by clashing the two brightest colors which were (in this image) pink and bright yellow and it actually made a dramatic effect on the work which I thought it worked well in the end.  A lot of street art when I have been shown during the tour was very contrasting and it capture the main focal point which was to see what the image was about and I felt the theme was dominating the street art scene during the tour. It might be different now but I still feel it will be the same once I go back into the alleyway and see what's changed. I hope this post might recommend you to visit to alleyways in Melbourne and take in the street art culture which we proudly have in this wonderful city of ours. <3 S xo

Welcome to The Artistic Effect

Hey Beautiful People, this me Steph and this is my new blog called "The Artistic Effect". The reason behind me creating a new blog is because lately I have been inspired by posts on Instagram and Facebook about how people used their artistic talents to create wonderful masterpieces. My favourite is fashion illustration because you put a lot of soul and work into the designs of clothes whether be for haute couture week or fashion week or lookbooks but the love and passion for these artists are what drives me, what inspires me to keep me going when I have nothing to do on the weekdays when I get home from school or on the weekends. So, in this blog I will post images of my sketches, final pieces of artwork, school art, fashion illustrations and drawings, my folio progress, tips and tricks for art, color theory, theory of art, art tips of the day, my reference images and so forth. So I hope you had a chance at looking at my new blog. I know there will be nothing there at the moment, but throughout the year and the future years to come. This blog will blow up filled with exciting things about my art, your art and everything that involved creating something (crafts are also included too!!).  See you all soon for my first post!!!! Love S xo
